First phase of tarring begins in Panamanna after roadwork delays

mathrubhumi.com (Malayalam) —

First phase of tarring has begun in Panamanna, where residents have been suffering from road renovation delays and dust problems. Work started Saturday on sections where wet mix macadam laying is complete. Previously, about 30 meters of roadwork remained unfinished in the Ananganadi panchayat area due to tar shortages. After completing that, first-phase tarring began from Panamanna. Earlier, residents blocked the road over severe dust, prompting DBM renovation from Keezhur Road to Ananganadi panchayat on the Ottapalam-Cherpulassery road. The DBM work halted after tarring, worsening dust from Panamanna onward. A people's collective had warned of roadblocks in letters to the MLA, sub-collector, police, and panchayat president. Road renovation on this stretch began over 1.5 years ago, with three kilometers tarred in the first phase.
