First commercial satellite launched to study stellar flares

The world's first commercial space science satellite, Mauve, has been successfully launched into orbit to study stellar flares. The microwave-sized satellite, developed by Blue Skies Space, was launched on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from California on November 28. It is equipped with a microscope to observe stars in ultraviolet light. Mauve will provide data to subscribing research institutions, including Boston and Columbia universities, to enhance understanding of stellar activity and its impact on exoplanets.
