Fire at North Sea solar park attributed to new technology issues
A fire occurred at a floating solar park off the coast of North Holland yesterday evening, marking the second incident in two weeks. The fire was caused by short-circuiting due to overheating of connectors from strong solar radiation. The Coast Guard responded with a special fire-fighting vessel to extinguish the flames. The company behind the solar park described the issue as a "childhood illness" of new technology, affecting a small portion of the park. This test field, located 18 kilometers offshore, is designed to utilize space between wind turbines. The company is developing a plan to repair the park and resume energy generation.
