Fire at Folkestone's Grand Burstin Hotel forces evacuation of 200 guests

More than 200 people were evacuated from the Grand Burstin Hotel in Folkestone after a fire broke out in the basement overnight. No fire-related injuries have been reported. Kent Fire and Rescue Service sent 26 fire engines to the scene at about 01:06 BST, with 10 remaining by 08:30 to dampen down hotspots. The cause of the blaze is not yet known. A welfare centre has been set up at Three Hills Sports Park, and nearby residents were advised to close windows and doors. Britannia Hotels Group said it is cooperating with authorities to support those affected.
