Finland repairs Kaskö railway, but funds are limited

yle.fi (Swedish)

The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency has begun a project to repair the Kaskö railway, but the allocated funding is insufficient to cover all necessary repairs. The project focuses on urgent repairs to the railway line between Seinäjoki and Kaskö, which has been closed since last autumn due to its poor condition. The agency has received 15 million euros for the project, which includes both immediate repairs and planning for future needs. The agency will assess repair needs, starting with the Seinäjoki-Koskenkorva section, and will also investigate reducing the number of level crossings to improve safety. Actual repairs in the field may not begin until 2027.
