Finland bans four wild berry firms from hiring non-EU workers

hs.fi (Indonesian)

Finland's Immigration Service has banned four wild berry companies from hiring non-EU workers due to irregularities and neglect in the sector. The bans apply to both work-based residence permits and seasonal work permits. Six further companies face possible similar restrictions, with decisions expected in August. In July, Finland rejected about 1,400 of 1,600 seasonal berry-picker visa applications over exploitation concerns. Earlier, a former berry company CEO received a prison sentence for human trafficking.
