Final Fantasy VII Revelation's 8 Biggest Changes to the PS1 Original
Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the final chapter of the remake trilogy, will significantly alter the original 1997 game's story and mechanics when it releases for the game's 30th anniversary. The game features a fully open world, a new job class system called FITS, and integrates optional characters Yuffie and Vincent into the main narrative. Key changes include a more gated open world compared to the original's free-roaming Highwind, and the snowboarding minigame may be repositioned. Master materia is confirmed to be absent as it would "break the game," while Vincent's transformations are now part of his standard combat kit. Summon locations have shifted, with Leviathan potentially receiving multiple upgraded versions like Bahamut. The remake project has delivered three triple-A games in seven years, with Revelation being the largest installment yet. The game will also feature Cid and Vincent as full-time party members, and its ending will address the cliffhanger from Rebirth.
