Ferry cancellations hit Cook Strait as bad weather disrupts holiday travel

Interislander has canceled two ferry sailings today due to safety concerns from large swells and strong southerly winds in Cook Strait. The affected sailings were from Wellington and Picton. Bluebridge ferries are still operating but may face delays and uncomfortable conditions. Rough weather is expected to continue until Tuesday. The cancellations have disrupted travel for holiday-makers returning to work this week. Swells were reported to be around 3.1 meters today.
