Federal grants fund bridge upgrades in Yellowstone and Denali parks

clickondetroit.com

Federal highway officials have announced $635 million in grants to repair or replace over 70 bridges across the U.S., including significant projects in Yellowstone and Denali national parks. This funding is part of a larger $1.2 trillion infrastructure law. Maine will receive the largest share, nearly $133 million, for bridges along Interstate 95. In Denali, over $13 million will replace the Ghiglione Bridge, which does not meet current earthquake standards. Yellowstone will see $23 million for repairs to an 85-year-old bridge over the Gardner River. These grants follow a July announcement of $5 billion for large bridge projects. Despite this funding, the American Road & Transportation Builders Association estimates that $400 billion is needed for all necessary bridge repairs nationwide.
