FDNY unveiled rebuilt Staten Island memorial for fallen firefighters

A refurbished FDNY memorial site on Staten Island was unveiled Saturday, two years after a crash destroyed the original. The new memorial honors fallen firefighters. The original memorial, damaged in 2023 by a stolen car, has been rebuilt with two stone monuments and a statue. The site includes the names of nearly 140 FDNY members from Staten Island who died on the job since 1907. The ceremony included family members of the fallen, including Stephen Siller Jr., and featured a bell-ringing tradition. The memorial is located near FDNY Engine 160/Rescue 5/Division 8.
