Faslane naval base receives £15 billion upgrade to boost nuclear submarine readiness

Faslane naval base will undergo a £15 billion upgrade over the next decade to enhance the UK's nuclear submarine fleet's warfighting readiness. This significant investment, part of Project Royal Oak, aims to modernize infrastructure, including new training facilities and engineering support, and is the largest naval base investment since the Cold War. The upgrade also includes spending on other naval bases and RAF contracts in Scotland, totaling £26 billion, and the purchase of an oil terminal to boost fuel storage capacity.
