Farmers in Sant Kabir Nagar struggle for fertilizer without registry

Farmers in Sant Kabir Nagar's Dhanghata region are struggling to obtain urea fertilizer because they lack farmer registry (Farmer Registry) documentation, forcing many to search from shop to shop for supplies. The biggest issue affects tenant farmers cultivating land under sharecropping (batai), as they cannot register since the land is not in their names. Farmers like Rohit Kumar and Ramchandra report that without registry, urea distribution is nearly impossible. At some centers, fertilizer is provided after Aadhaar-based land records and biometric authentication, but operators have been accused of recording excess fertilizer using farmers' thumbprints without consent, causing later shortages.
