FAA reviews air traffic safety in eight major cities
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has permanently banned helicopters from flying near Washington, D.C.'s airport following a mid-air collision that killed 67 people. This decision follows recommendations from federal investigators due to a history of near misses in the area. The FAA is also studying air traffic in eight major cities, including Houston, to identify risks from different aircraft sharing airspace. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced plans to use artificial intelligence to analyze data for potential danger zones. The Army supports the FAA's safety measures and will adjust its flight routes. A Senate hearing on March 27 will address the impact of these changes on military operations and air traffic safety.
