Experts forecast lower Ukrainian apple prices in 2027 as harvests grow

rbc.ua (Ukrainian)

Most Ukrainian apple market experts expect wholesale prices to fall in January-May 2027, with 43% forecasting declines amid an anticipated larger 2026 harvest. The most common forecast is an 11-20% decline, chosen by 25% of respondents; 14% expect a drop exceeding 21%. Larger harvests in Ukraine, Moldova, and Turkey, plus rising sea export costs, are key pressure factors, though Central Asia and Caucasus markets may absorb some surplus. FAO economist Andriy Yarmak calls this season atypical: prices fell from January through June after apples sold at least 25% higher at harvest. EastFruit warns aggressive selling may prevent 2027 price drops.
