Expert estimates the cost of single life for women in big cities

An expert estimates that a single woman in a large Russian city needs about 120,000 rubles per month to cover basic needs and rent, with up to 250,000 rubles required for a more luxurious lifestyle. Olga Ivanova, press secretary of the independent trade union "New Labor," cited statistics showing that breaking up with a partner reduces grocery costs only if the woman has a stable income. She noted that single urban women less often build a financial safety net, which typically accumulates in couples planning a family budget. This makes unexpected expenses, such as dental visits or appliance repairs, more painful for solo budgets. However, Ivanova concluded that financial literacy, not relationship status, is the decisive factor in managing personal finances.
