Experian: 54% of Consumers Trust AI Agents to Apply for Credit

Experian research finds 54% of consumers are comfortable with AI agents applying for credit on their behalf, signaling growing trust in AI beyond research into active lending tasks. The study of 6,247 consumers across 13 markets shows 82% trust AI to compare loans, 85% believe it finds more options, and 84% say it secures better rates. Many still want oversight, with 23% allowing rule-based actions and 5% full autonomy. Three-quarters prefer AI linked to trusted financial institutions, highlighting opportunities for banks to integrate secure agent interactions. Experian is developing identity, fraud prevention, and consent management tools to support this shift.
