Ex-principal charged with aiding cartels in hospital contract fraud in India

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has charged former R.G. Kar hospital principal Sandip Ghosh with aiding two cartels in securing hospital contracts. The charges were filed in a special court, but prosecution awaits government approval. Ghosh resigned in August 2023 following a high-profile case involving the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at the hospital. The CBI's investigation into financial irregularities at the hospital was prompted by a Calcutta High Court order. Ghosh, along with other accused, allegedly violated hiring rules for house staff. He has faced scrutiny for his role in the hospital's management during his tenure from February 2021 to September 2023.
