Ex-husband pleads guilty to attacking and then rescuing ex-wife in Georgia

Morgan Metzer survived a violent attack in her Canton, Georgia, home on New Year's Day 2021. The assailant, disguised in black, pistol-whipped and assaulted her before leaving her tied up on the back porch. Surprisingly, her ex-husband, Rod Metzer, arrived shortly after and called 911. Investigators later discovered evidence linking Rod to the attack, including zip ties and hidden photos of Morgan on his phone. Rod had faked a cancer diagnosis to manipulate Morgan and had researched methods to carry out the attack. He pleaded guilty to multiple charges and was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Morgan has since focused on healing and raising awareness about domestic abuse. She expressed relief at Rod's sentencing, stating it felt like a death, as she had lost the man she once loved.
