Ex-bureaucrat Ashish Joshi questioned 9 hours over election posts, denied family notice

Former bureaucrat Ashish Joshi claimed Delhi Police questioned him for nine hours over social media posts about the Election Commission and denied him the chance to inform his wife of his whereabouts. Joshi was picked up from Chanakyapuri and questioned by the Special Cell under Section 192 of the BNS, related to provocation likely to cause a riot. He was released that evening after crowds gathered demanding his release. Joshi alleged the police conduct violated the Supreme Court's D K Basu ruling on informing families upon detention, and he urged police leadership to issue clear instructions on the matter. Delhi Police had not responded to the allegations.
