Evita Muzic returns to her family roots at European Championships in Slovenia

leprogres.fr (French) —

French cyclist Evita Muzic will compete in the European Championships in Slovenia on Saturday, one week after the world championships in Montreal, returning to the homeland of her family roots. Muzic's grandparents emigrated from the Trieste border region to France nearly a century ago, with her father arriving in Montmorot in 1933. Her father Thierry never returned to Slovenia, though recent family memories have resurfaced following the death of Evita's grandfather this spring. Muzic finished 49th at the world championships after a mass crash. The European race takes place 100 kilometers east of Trieste, where her family originated. Separately, French rider Theophile Vassal placed 24th in the U23 European Championships in Ljubljana on Friday.
