Europeans advised to stockpile food and supplies for potential emergencies
A new report advises European Union citizens to stockpile emergency supplies in case of war or major emergencies, particularly due to Russian aggression. The report emphasizes the need for proactive preparedness, contrasting with past responses to crises like COVID-19. Former Finnish President Sauli Niinistö authored the report, which calls for households to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours. It recommends guidelines for stockpiling food, water, and medicine, as well as plans for evacuations and accessing emergency services. The report highlights the interconnectedness of EU member states' security and suggests allocating 20% of the EU budget to enhance crisis readiness. It also proposes improved intelligence sharing among countries to strengthen overall preparedness.
