European Solidarity rebukes Honcharenko's call for talks with Russia
Ukrainian lawmaker Oleksiy Honcharenko from the European Solidarity party called on October 2 for negotiations with Russia, stating Ukraine is "losing the war" and proposing step-by-step agreements on various issues. His party responded the same day, rejecting any notion of capitulation. Honcharenko argued in Telegram posts that an immediate peace deal is impossible, suggesting instead incremental talks, such as halting strikes on ports, which could lead to broader agreements. He insisted he advocates negotiations, not surrender, and acknowledged both sides would need to make concessions. European Solidarity issued a unanimous statement emphasizing that peace must not mean capitulation of Ukrainian statehood, calling for both maximum defense strength and diplomatic activity. The party stressed Ukraine must remain strong, armed, democratic, and European after the war.
