Europe ignored India's warning on China dependence, Belgian PM says

Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever said Europe ignored India's warnings about economic dependence on China, calling the resulting situation a "rude awakening" during his Delhi visit. Speaking at a Confederation of Indian Industry event, De Wever said Europe allowed cheap foreign goods to undermine its industries and build dependencies that could be used as political leverage. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi with warning Europe long ago, but said those warnings were ignored. De Wever called India Belgium's top partner for trust-based cooperation. Belgium also conveyed it will not supply critical military hardware to Pakistan, and ten defence agreements were signed, including potential joint production of military equipment in India.
