Europe finalizes Solheim Cup team with Maguire and three rookies

Europe captain Anna Nordqvist finalized her Solheim Cup team Monday, adding veteran Leona Maguire and three rookies for the Sept. 11-13 matches in The Netherlands. Europe seeks to reclaim the cup after a three-point loss in Virginia two years ago. Charley Hull earned an automatic spot from the Ladies European Tour points list, while Esther Henseleit surged to second after a playoff loss at the Women’s British Open. Six world-ranking spots went to rookies and veterans including Celine Boutier and Carlota Ciganda. Maguire, 31, has an 8-3-1 record in three Solheim Cups but missed cuts in four majors this year. Dewi Weber was ineligible despite ranking ahead of three picks due to non-LET membership. Team USA hasn’t won on European soil since 2015.
