EU to Continue Mine Action Cooperation with Azerbaijan

The EU will continue cooperation with Azerbaijan in mine action, EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mariana Kujundzic announced at the Fourth International Conference on Demining in Baku. She praised Azerbaijan's extensive efforts, particularly by ANAMA, in survey, clearance, education, and victim assistance. Kujundzic stated humanitarian demining is essential for restoration, reconstruction, and human dignity, not just security. She highlighted Croatia's experience and stressed that demining and recovery must proceed in parallel, based on long-term planning and community needs. The EU has provided 22 million euros to Azerbaijan through the Team Europe initiative. Kujundzic emphasized the EU remains a reliable long-term partner, committed to creating mine-free environments and supporting sustainable development in the region.
