Renewable energy use in the EU reached a record 24.5% last year, but this growth is not sufficient to meet the 2030 target of 42.5%. Spain is the only major economy in the EU exceeding the average. Luxembourg, Belgium, and Malta reported the lowest shares of renewable energy use. Despite this, Malta increased its renewable energy consumption by over 10% in the past decade, along with several other countries.
