Essex-Windsor EMS strike delayed as county asks labour board to reconsider

ctvnews.ca

A strike by Essex-Windsor EMS workers has been delayed after the County of Essex asked the Ontario Labour Relations Board to reconsider its decision, with talks ending without a deal. CUPE Local 2974 president James Jovanovic said the county’s request delays their ability to strike, and they intend to move forward once finalized. The county also reversed course on a key provision, and an Aug. 10 meeting may not happen. More than 150 people rallied in support, including residents and EMS workers. Paramedics say morale is low and they need competitive wages, better mental health services, and more ambulances.
