Epic Games offers $245 million in refunds for Fortnite in-game purchases

Epic Games has set aside $245 million to refund gamers for unwanted in-game purchases in Fortnite. This follows a $520 million settlement with the Federal Trade Commission over allegations of misleading purchasing practices. Gamers can apply for refunds until January 10, 2025. Eligible claims include unauthorized charges made by children or charges for unwanted items between January 2017 and September 2022. The FTC has already issued over $72 million in payments to 629,344 valid claims filed by October 8, 2024. Claims submitted after this date are still under review.
