Engie reports strong U.S. demand for renewable energy projects
Engie, a French power company, reports strong demand for renewable energy in the U.S. despite a pause in funding for key climate legislation by President Trump. Engie secured 4.3 gigawatts of power purchase agreements globally in 2024, up from 2.7 gigawatts in 2023. Of the total, 1.5 gigawatts were signed in the U.S. across eight projects. Engie maintains that the U.S. will remain a significant part of its portfolio, although other regions may see faster growth in renewable projects. Engie has 8 gigawatts of wind and solar capacity in North America, with ongoing developments. The company anticipates increased growth in solar and battery projects in 2025 due to lower material costs and faster renewable deployment.
