Enbridge plans pipeline expansion to support expected U.S. oil drilling surge
Enbridge Inc. plans to increase capacity in its U.S. oil pipeline system, anticipating a drilling boom under the incoming Trump administration. The company aims to transport “several hundred thousand” more barrels daily within two to three years. The focus will be on moving oil from the Rockies and Bakken regions to Midwest and Gulf Coast refineries. Enbridge is also exploring ways to transport more Canadian crude into the U.S., despite potential tariffs on Canadian goods. CEO Greg Ebel mentioned the opportunity to advance the Line 5 oil pipeline project, including a tunnel under the Great Lakes, which has faced opposition in Michigan.
