Elton John and Ed Sheeran's Merry Christmas enters Billboard Hot 100 top 40

Elton John and Ed Sheeran's song "Merry Christmas" has entered the Billboard Hot 100's top 40 for the first time, now at No. 38. This marks John's 60th top 40 hit and Sheeran's 25th. The song saw a significant increase in streams, radio airplay, and sales during the Dec. 20-26 tracking week. It gained 20.2 million streams, 2.8 million in radio audience, and 2,000 sales in the U.S. John ties with Beyoncé for the ninth-most top 40 hits in the chart's history. He has maintained a presence in the top 40 for over 54 years, while Sheeran first entered the top 40 in 2012.
