Elon Musk's super PAC spends $800,000 on Republican candidates in tight House races

Elon Musk's super PAC, America PAC, has spent over $800,000 on direct-mail and campaign materials for Republican candidates in close congressional races ahead of the November 3 midterm elections, according to a filing late Wednesday. The PAC's first 2026 spending focuses on Texas and other battleground states, with the largest boost of $247,595 going to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's Senate race. Other top beneficiaries include Maine Senator Susan Collins with $170,224 and Ohio Senator Jon Husted with $105,675, both of whom sit on committees overseeing federal spending relevant to Musk's government contracts. The PAC, which holds a $50 million war chest and targets up to $120 million in funding, also supported candidates on Armed Services and other oversight committees. Democrats criticized the spending, with one campaign manager accusing Musk of trying to buy a Senate seat for a Republican "rubber stamp" for Donald Trump's agenda.
