Elon Musk criticized for spreading false claims about "Adolescence."
Elon Musk is facing backlash after sharing misleading information about the Netflix series Adolescence. He reacted to a post on his social media platform, X, that wrongly claimed the show was based on a real-life British murder case. The post suggested that Adolescence was about a knife killer who stabbed a girl on a bus and linked it to a tragedy in Southport last year. However, the show's production had begun before the Southport stabbing occurred, which resulted in the deaths of three children. Musk's comment was simply "Wow," which sparked more criticism. Users on X called out Musk for spreading false claims and creating division. The content of the original post was heavily criticized, with many pointing out that even its basic details about the show were incorrect. Stephen Graham, co-writer of Adolescence, clarified that the show is not based on any specific teen murder. He shared that his inspiration came from reading articles about separate incidents involving young boys and girls, expressing his concern about youth violence in society.
