Elevated fire danger alert for parts of Pennsylvania
The National Weather Service has issued a weather alert for parts of Pennsylvania. This alert warns of elevated fire danger until 7 p.m. Wednesday. Areas affected include Westmoreland Ridges, Fayette Ridges, and Higher Elevations of Indiana, along with several counties like Mercer, Venango, and Allegheny. The alert, issued at 6:18 a.m., cites dry and windy conditions as the main causes for the increased fire risk. Humidity levels are expected to be very low, between 10% and 25%. Southerly winds will also reach gusts of 20 to 30 mph. Residents are advised to be cautious when handling items that could start a fire. This includes machinery, cigarettes, and matches. The weather service emphasizes that if dry grass or tree litter ignites, it could lead to a rapidly spreading fire. People are reminded to properly dispose of cigarette butts and to stay vigilant.
