Electronic Pioneer Suzanne Ciani, 80, Plays First Scottish Show Before New Mexico Festival
Electronic pioneer Suzanne Ciani, 80, will perform her first-ever Scottish show this weekend at Glasgow's Sonica Festival, followed by a set at Atomika festival near Roswell, New Mexico in November. Ciani helped develop the Buchla modular synthesizer and founded Ciani/Musica in 1974, creating iconic sounds for Coca-Cola and Columbia Pictures. She has released over 25 albums and earned five Grammy nominations, recently experiencing a career renaissance through live modular performances. Ciani's late-career revival includes collaborations with artists like Floating Points and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, whom she met at a community dinner. She now embraces a younger audience that understands her pioneering work in electronic music.
