Election Commission criticizes Maharashtra for failing to transfer poll officers

The Election Commission (EC) criticized Maharashtra for not following its July 31 order to transfer poll-related officers who have served three years or are in their home districts. The EC demanded immediate compliance. Over 100 inspector-level officers in Mumbai and other key officials have not been transferred, despite multiple reminders from the EC. The commission suspects this may be an attempt to keep officers favorable to the ruling party. The EC has requested explanations from the Maharashtra chief secretary and DGP for the delays. It emphasized that further inaction will not be tolerated as the assembly elections approach.
