Elderly woman dies and four injured in Galashiels car crash

An 83-year-old woman died and four others were injured in a two-car crash in Galashiels, Scotland. The accident involved a black Seat Altea and a grey Honda CRV on the A7 Abbotsford Road. Emergency services responded at 10:55. The woman was pronounced dead at Borders General Hospital. A 78-year-old man and three passengers from the Honda were also hospitalized, but their injuries are not life-threatening. The road was closed for several hours and reopened around 15:00.
