Egyptian MP Demands Accountability for South Sinai Bus Crash

Egyptian MP Freddy El-Bayady has filed a parliamentary question demanding accountability for officials following a bus accident on the Dahab-Nuweiba road in South Sinai that killed 22 people and injured 28 others. El-Bayady argued that road accidents stem from a systemic failure involving road design, maintenance, traffic enforcement, vehicle inspections, and passenger transport oversight, not just driver error. He cited official figures showing 5,829 deaths and 84,553 injuries from road accidents in 2025, a 10.8% increase in fatalities compared to 2024. The MP criticized the government's repeated pattern of condolences and investigations without holding senior officials accountable, and called for a transparent technical investigation, urgent parliamentary discussion, and a clear action plan to address dangerous road points and prevent future tragedies.
