Egyptian FA seeks foreign referees for Al Ahly-Zamalek derby

The Egyptian Football Association has begun early steps to secure a foreign refereeing crew for the upcoming match between Al Ahly and Zamalek, scheduled for October 11. The association will send official letters to major European football leagues in the coming hours to identify available referees. This follows a formal request from Al Ahly to the Egyptian Professional Clubs Association for foreign officials in their matches against Zamalek and Pyramids. The last Cairo derby in October 2024 was officiated by Egyptian referee Amin Omar. Essam Abdel Fattah now heads the referees committee after Colombian Oscar Ruiz departed. The match follows the international break from September 21 to October 6.
