Egyptian court resumes trial of 62 defendants in Nasr City terror cell case
Egypt's First Terrorism Circuit Court, headed by Judge Mohamed El-Said El-Sherbiny, resumes the trial of 62 defendants in the case known as "Nasr City Cell." The session continues proceedings for the defendants facing terrorism-related charges. The referral order states the first six defendants led a terrorist group from 2002 to April 28, 2024, aiming to disrupt public order, obstruct the constitution and laws, and prevent state institutions from functioning. Charges also include assaulting personal freedoms and harming national unity and social peace. Other defendants face charges of joining the group with knowledge of its aims, while some are accused of financing terrorism or inciting violence through social media posts. The court continues examining the case against all 62 accused individuals.
