Egypt increases "Takaful and Karama" pension to 900 pounds
The "Takaful and Karama" social security pension will increase to 900 Egyptian pounds per person, starting July 1st. Social Solidarity Minister Maya Morsi announced the increase, following a 25% raise approved by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Some families receive multiple "Takaful and Karama" payments, potentially totaling 3,000 pounds. Egypt spends 9.5% of its national output on social protection programs, ranking second in the Middle East and North Africa. The "Takaful and Karama" program is considered the largest in the Arab world by the World Bank.
