The regulator, Children's Education and Care Assurance, suspended Charnwood over staffing issues, including high turnover and inexperienced staff, which it deemed major risks to child supervision and safety. Edge said reopening after the suspension was not viable. Edge entered voluntary administration last week, the same day as the closure announcement, and is seeking buyers for its services. The company continues to operate one Canberra centre in Ngunnawal, with parents and staff reportedly distressed by the sudden news.
