DWP confirms plans to maintain current PIP payments amid voucher scheme discussions

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has updated claimants on the proposed changes to Personal Independence Payments (PIP). Plans to replace the £737 monthly payments with vouchers or other systems are currently not moving forward. New Pensions Minister Sir Stephen Timms stated that the government will not respond to the previous consultation on PIP changes. Instead, they will develop their own plans for social security. This update suggests that the controversial voucher scheme is unlikely to be implemented soon. However, future proposals similar to the previous consultation cannot be completely ruled out.
