Dublin has prepared for icy weather with a salt stock warehouse that holds 1,500 tonnes of grit. The salt, mined in Carrickfergus, is used to improve traction on roads and sidewalks. During the recent cold snap, crews worked overnight to spread grit. Operations began at 7 PM and continued until 8 AM, using five trucks from one location and four from another. Over the past week, more than 630 tonnes of salt have been deployed to keep the city safe during the freezing conditions.
