A clinical trial found that the menopause drug Duavee may help prevent invasive breast cancer, offering a potential new use for the existing medication. The phase 2 trial involved 141 postmenopausal women with a precursor to invasive breast cancer. Duavee, a combination drug, significantly reduced cell growth in breast tissue, a key indicator of cancer progression. The study's lead investigator will present the findings at the ASCO Annual Meeting. Duavee was well-tolerated, and may offer a new option for women at high risk of breast cancer who are also experiencing menopausal symptoms.
