DSWD prepositions 80,000 food packs in Negros following Kanlaon Volcano eruption

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has prepositioned 80,000 food packs and over 16,000 non-food items in Negros Island following the recent eruption of Kanlaon Volcano. This includes 40,000 food packs in Negros Occidental and nearly 40,000 in Negros Oriental. Some supplies have already been distributed to families in evacuation centers. Water filtration kits were also provided, and DSWD is coordinating with local governments to assess further needs. Currently, 14 barangays are affected, with about 8,900 individuals in evacuation centers. The alert level for Kanlaon Volcano has been raised to 3 due to ongoing magmatic unrest.
