Drone explodes near Romanian border, Bulgaria boosts defenses

midilibre.fr (French)

A drone crashed and exploded in a Bulgarian sunflower field near the Romanian border on Saturday, about 1 km from a trans-Balkan pipeline station; no injuries or damage were reported. The drone entered Bulgarian airspace at 8:10 a.m. local time, Prime Minister Rumen Radev said. It exploded 1,000 meters from a trans-Balkan pipeline compression station. Neither Bulgaria nor Romania detected it; border police heard the blast and saw black smoke. The area was sealed off. Bulgaria's Defense Ministry reinforced radar coverage and surveillance and redeployed forces against low-flying, slow targets. Drone incursions are common in Romania, but this is the first such incident in Bulgaria.
