A drone flew into Bulgaria and exploded near the Romanian border, Prime Minister Rumen Radev said Saturday; no injuries or damage were reported. The blast occurred about 100 meters from Romania, near the Kardam border checkpoint and 1,000 meters from the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline's compressor station. Teams are investigating, and authorities said the drone carried a large amount of explosives. It crashed in a sunflower field; Radev said it was not a hobby drone but a larger one. Drone incidents increased across Eastern European NATO members, with Romania reporting incursions since Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
