An explosive drone detonated in Bulgaria near a key international gas pipeline early Saturday, prompting increased border surveillance; no infrastructure damage or casualties were reported. The drone entered from Romania and exploded about 100 meters inside Bulgaria near Kardam, close to compressor stations. Preliminary analysis suggested it was likely a Ukrainian Maya decoy, though origin remained uncertain; Bulgaria's ministry said there was no reason to believe the incident was intentional. The Trans-Balkan pipeline links Turkey and Ukraine through Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova, carrying gas both ways.
