$10.5 million awarded for Arlington Heights bicyclist's death

A Cook County jury has awarded $10.5 million to the husband of Sylwia Wagner Jarosz, a kindergarten teacher killed in a 2022 bicycle accident in Arlington Heights. Jarosz, 45, was struck by a truck after a crash between two vehicles at an intersection. She was waiting at a red light when the truck veered off the road and hit her. The defendants admitted liability before the trial, which began on March 11, 2025. The jury's decision was announced on March 14, 2025.
